Old Orchard Primary School was established in 1992 as a result of the amalgamation of Blackburn North and Middlefield Primary Schools. Following the initial amalgamation, the two schools were located on the Blackburn North site for a period of almost four years. The school relocated to its current site, previously occupied by Blackburn Technical School, in October 1995 with the official opening taking place in November of the same year.
Currently the school has 490 students enrolled.
Currently at Old Orchard there are three Prep grades, seven 1/2 grades, six 3/4 grades and five 5/6 grades.
